OpenID è uno standard aperto inventato da Brad Fitzpatrick creatore di LiveJournal che consente di accedere in modo facile e sicuro senza login e password ai nostri siti preferiti, che supportano il protocollo OpenID, utilizzando un indirizzo URL del tipo http://towerlight2002.myopenid.com/ o l’ URL del nostro sito/blog.
Ciò significa meno nomi utente e password da ricordare e meno tempo perso per l’iscrizione ai nuovi siti.
Un solo account contiene le vostre informazioni personali, ossia con un unico sistema di login e password presso un provider di OpenID, si forniscono in modo sicuro le credenziali di autenticazione per entrare rapidamente nei nostri siti preferiti ed in tutti quelli nuovi che supportano ovviamente il protocollo OpenID.

WP-OpenID è un plugin che consente ai commentatori di utilizzare un OpenID per assicurare la loro identità come autore del commento; inoltre permette il login collegato ad un account utente registrato nel blog come identità alternativa di autenticazione.
Al momento, WP-OpenId versione 2.1.9 è compatibile con WordPress 2.5.0, mentre per WP 2.5.1 è necessario correggere due righe nel file logic.php come spiegato sul forum di supporto nel thread WP-OpenID and identity urls for existing accounts

Se ancora non si dispone di un OpenID si dovrà registrarsi presso un provider, inserire un username che comporrà parte del nostro URL OpenID ed una password.

In queste ore ho provveduto ad aggiornare il blog all’ultima versione di wordpress(2.3.1) ed all’aggiornamento di alcuni plugin.

Nell’eventualità si verificassero errori o problemi vi pregherei di segnalarmelo in modo da poter risolvere nei migliori dei modi.

Sul blog gnucitizen.org è apparso un post che avverte della vulnerabilità critica di QuickTime.
pdp, questo il nickname, afferma che già lo scorso anno scopri e divulgò due vulnerabilita critiche di QuickTime, una è stata corretta, mentre l’altra è tuttora aperta.
Sul blog è pubblicato il codice degli exploit per dimostrare quanto sia facile a malintenzionati installare backdoor o prendere il pieno controllo di un pc con Windows.

Personalmente ho provato gli exploit proof of concept con l’ ultima versione di Firefox 2 e Internet Explorer 7 con Windows XP sp2 e QuickTime 7.2 :
uno script è riuscito a lanciare la calcolatrice, un altro il blocnotes di Windows.
Lo scrip per la calcolatrice è un banale file .mp3 che ovviamente deve essere aperto dal plugin di quickTime:
